Job description

The Slitter Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, setup, and maintenance of slitting equipment while ensuring quality production standards are met or exceeded. This position requires technical expertise in machine operation, quality control, and safety procedures. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work efficiently while maintaining quality standards and safety protocols. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitting equipment to meet production goals while maintaining safety standards and quality specifications
  • Execute efficient job changeovers and ensure safe handling of slit rolls/materials according to procedures
  • Perform regular quality control inspections and maintain proper material segregation/labeling
  • Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal performance and product consistency
  • Input and track accurate production data in PRISM system, including waste, WIP, time codes, and raw materials
  • Identify and report quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Participate in preventative maintenance activities and basic troubleshooting of equipment
  • Meet or exceed plant EFM (Equipment and Factory Management) goals
  • Maintain clean and organized work area, following proper housekeeping procedures
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding mechanical issues, defective materials, and shift information
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred
  • Previous manufacturing experience a plus
  • Demonstrated stable work history

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to:
  • Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Manual dexterity for grasping, machine operation, and fine motor skills
  • Visual acuity including color discrimination
  • Use of ladders and other equipment
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain forklift and pallet jacks certifications

Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with potential exposure to:
  • Noise levels above 85 dB
  • Operation of complex machinery
  • Solvents, fumes and inks
  • Variable Temperatures
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
  • May require overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (qualifying hours vary by location). 6pm to 6am
