Job description

Description
The pharmacy intern assists in daily pharmacy duties including technician roles, advanced tasks as approved by state law and special projects to further advance training to prepare the intern for the role of a pharmacist. This position is a safety sensitive position.
Qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a School of Pharmacy
  • Registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy
  • Once eligible, must hold certificate to administer immunizations
  • Possesses strong communication skills
  • Must be compassionate and patient attentive
  • Prior pharmacy experience preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Accepting new prescriptions from patients
  • Accepting new prescriptions (controlled and non-controlled) orally from physician offices
  • Call physician offices for prescription renewals, documenting all responses
  • Prescription data entry
  • Resolution of reimbursement issues
  • Prescription and controlled substance bottle filling
  • Simple routine compounding
  • Labeling of prescriptions
  • Perpetual inventory ordering, receiving and review
  • Pricing merchandise
  • Reviewing medication expiration dates
  • Patient counseling
  • Administers and completes documentation for immunizations under pharmacist supervision
  • Assists in Medication Therapy Management services under pharmacist supervision
  • Perform high standard of customer service
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • The employee is required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment
