Job description

This position is temporary/on-call status and will end when election season is over. This position is not eligible for county benefits. Under general supervision performs specialized work in coordinating the absentee ballots or voter registrations and assists voters in person and on the phone with various topics that pertain to elections for the Polk County Elections Office.

Illustrative Examples of Work Performs clerical work such as filing, sorting, and assisting the general public over the phone and in person; may perform basic computer data entry. Processes mailings using labels and multiple envelopes. Performs quality control of data entry on ballots, voter registration, etc.

Processes voters at the front counter using laptops or Ipads. Performs related duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of modern office practices and techniques.

Basic knowledge of elections. Ability to walk and stand at times for prolonged periods. Ability to type 50 words per minute.

Ability to communicate with the general public and coworkers using courtesy, patience, and tact. Training and Experience Graduation from high school, and One year of related clerical experience, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience that will have provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
