Royal Oak Inpatient Pharmacy - Inventory/Stock Room - Full time, rotating shift
About the Unit
Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.
About Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (Royal Oak)
Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Today, the hospital is a 1,101-bed major academic and referral center with Level I adult trauma and Level II pediatric trauma designations. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital has 43 residency and fellowship programs with 454 residents and fellows. Corewell is the exclusive clinical partner of the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, with more than 1,400 doctors on faculty.
Scope Of Work
This position will primarily work in the stockroom and/or other areas in the inpatient pharmacy as needed. Under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions. Within the Hospital, rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service is routine. Rotation to OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services may be required. Performs data entry and other record keeping functions as determined to be necessary to the operations of the department.
Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures. Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products. Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms. Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs. Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy. Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital. Performs necessary record keeping functions. Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window. May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required. Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner. Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.
Qualifications
  • Required A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or GED.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
