Join a dynamic healthcare team in the Pacific Northwest as a part-time Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist. This role involves assembling and organizing both inpatient and outpatient medical records, ensuring they are complete and readily accessible for ongoing patient care. You will work with a hybrid system of paper and electronic medical records, collaborating closely with healthcare professionals to support quality patient outcomes.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accurately process and file medical record documents to ensure timely availability of complete patient data.
  • Assemble and analyze medical records following established procedures, including indexing and importing documents into electronic systems.
  • Scan and index loose reports, maintain logs for offsite storage, and retrieve records for various clinical and administrative needs.
  • Manage Release of Information (ROI) requests in compliance with regional laws and respond to Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) inquiries from third-party payers.
  • Provide professional and timely responses to phone inquiries and collaborate with providers regarding medical records questions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality, privacy, and security of protected health information.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
  • At least one year of clerical experience; prior medical records or medical office experience is advantageous.
Requirements and Skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff and patients.
