Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in database architecture, cloud technologies, and data engineering. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable data pipelines and data platforms, strong SQL and data modeling skills, Python proficiency, and exposure to AI/ML and Generative AI technologies. This role collaborates closely with application architects, cloud engineers, data scientists, and development teams to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performance data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and define enterprise-level database architectures, standards, patterns, and best practices
  • Evaluate and select relational, NoSQL, and cloud-native database technologies based on business requirements
  • Design scalable solutions covering data modeling, availability, resiliency, backup/recovery, replication, and disaster recovery
  • Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, partitioning, and capacity planning
  • Establish database security standards including encryption, access controls, auditing, and compliance
  • Use Python for scripting, automation, data processing, and validation tasks
  • Support AI/ML and GenAI teams with data requirements, vector databases, embeddings, and RAG patterns
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams, technical documentation, and design decisions
  • Provide technical leadership, architecture reviews, and mentoring to engineering teams
Required Skills
  • Strong experience in database architecture, database engineering, or database administration
  • Deep understanding of relational database concepts - SQL, data modeling, normalization, indexing, transactions, performance optimization
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or equivalent platforms
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP managed database services
  • Basic to intermediate Python skills for scripting, automation, and data processing
  • Experience designing or supporting database migration and modernization initiatives
  • Understanding of cloud architecture - scalability, high availability, security, monitoring, and disaster recovery
Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with AI/ML and Generative AI - vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, LLMs, and RAG
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and DevOps/CI/CD practices
  • Knowledge of database observability, monitoring, and automated operations
  • Experience with data governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
