Systems Engineer โ€“ Avionics Integration (2 Openings) Location: 400 Collins Rd NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52498 Contract Duration: 6โ€“12 months Pay Rate: $55โ€“$60/hour (straight time only) Schedule: Mondayโ€“Friday, standard office hours Work Arrangement: Onsite only Citizenship Requirement: U.S. Citizens or U.S. Persons Education Requirement: Bachelorโ€™s degree in a STEM field Employment Type: W2 Contract Position Overview
This role supports cockpit avionics development for U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation platforms including the A/MH-6R, MH-60M, and MH-47G. Responsibilities include:
- Designing, validating, and verifying avionics systems requirements
- Executing platform-specific testing in lab environments, including robustness and ad-hoc testing (schedule flexibility required during formal test phases)
- Collaborating with internal engineering teams and external stakeholders on Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) builds
- Using engineering tools such as TNT, DOORS, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft Office, and SVN
- Investigating lab hardware and integration interfaces between Collins Aerospace and government-furnished equipment Required Qualifications
- Hands-on systems engineering experience
- Familiarity with avionics data buses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, ARINC-429)
