Job description

This Department of War enterprise data and analytics program delivers mission-critical capabilities that enable leaders across the Department to make faster, better-informed decisions using trusted data at scale. Leidos Digital Modernization sector is seeking an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement, and adoption of enterprise data and analytics products used across multiple DoD organizations.

In this role, you will work alongside government partners, engineers, and other industry teammates to translate operational and strategic requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions. You will contribute directly to product planning, execution, and continuous improvement-helping ensure capabilities are delivered efficiently, aligned to mission priorities, and positioned for sustained success.

This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-visibility, enterprise program at the intersection of data, analytics, and emerging AI technologies. Ideal candidates are motivated by mission impact, comfortable operating in complex stakeholder environments, and interested in building deep domain expertise while delivering capabilities with real-world national security outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test scripts for enterprise applications and services.

  • Implement automated testing within CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration, testing, and delivery.

  • Develop and execute automated tests including unit, integration, regression, performance, and security testing.

  • Support implementation of automated testing strategies aligned to the Software Test Plan (STP) and DevSecOps practices.

  • Collaborate with software engineers, DevOps engineers, and system integrators to ensure test coverage and quality.

  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and support resolution of issues impacting system performance and reliability.

  • Support validation of system functionality across development, test, integration, staging, and production environments.

  • Develop and maintain test data, test environments, and automation tools.

  • Ensure test processes align with cybersecurity, compliance, and system requirements.

  • Contribute to performance optimization, reliability improvements, and defect reduction across systems.

  • Maintain test documentation, scripts, and reporting artifacts.

  • Implement and enforce data security policies, including data encryption at rest and in transit, and access controls for the platform.

  • Optimize data infrastructure for performance and scalability, and plan for future growth.

  • Ensure data backup and recovery processes are in place to protect against data loss and ensure business continuity.

  • Develop and maintain utilities that provide builders base code and methods to connect to source systems and ingest data into the system.

  • Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 support for enterprise data product and service customer issues.

  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring or critical issues and define the process for implementing solutions.

  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible training materials for the team and relevant customers.

  • Monitor the performance and usage of data tools, identify areas for improvement, and recommend and implement changes to the data toolset.

  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies including PI Planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or related technical discipline and 8-12 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in a related field and 6-10 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience developing and executing automated test solutions in enterprise environments.

  • Experience with programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, or similar.

  • Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit, or similar.

  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and processes such as Jenkins, GitLab CI.

  • Experience supporting software testing across multiple environments (DEV, TEST, INT, STAGE, PROD).

  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and experience with data pipeline tools such as Apache NiFi, Airflow.

  • Experience operating within SAFe or Agile frameworks supporting enterprise systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

  • Experience with data security practices, including data encryption and access controls.

  • Experience supporting automated testing across NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and JWICS environments.

  • Experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).

  • Experience supporting DevSecOps-integrated testing and continuous monitoring.

  • Experience testing data platforms, AI/ML systems, or analytics applications.

  • Experience with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

  • Familiarity with data governance tools and practices.

  • Knowledge of data quality monitoring tools and processes.

  • Experience with data catalog management and data sharing agreements.

  • Strong documentation skills, including user guides and technical specifications.
