Job description

Mechanical Engineer

This position is responsible for the design, development, verification of assigned mechanical components to include sheet-metal / machined-metal parts and assemblies, and theoretical mechanical concepts required to integrate mechanical and electrical components into one assembly.


This is a Contract role.


What you will be doing as a Mechanical Engineerโ€ฆ

Maintains a basic working knowledge of mechanical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) for efficient conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams and assembly drawings.

Maintains a basic understanding of metal parts machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.

Maintains a basic working knowledge of packaging techniques applied to high performance electronics for use in harsh and demanding environments.

Maintains a basic working knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the design field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

Recommends the proper procedures, processes, templates, and tools to correctly perform the task assigned.

Provides technical assistance for the building and testing of new products and systems

Provides basic troubleshooting support for products in Manufacturing and Technical Services

Reviews mechanical drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards, as assigned

Ensure designs are producible and error free

Provides basic component-level review and in-depth troubleshooting support for product in Manufacturing and in the field as well as Sales department assistance

Assist the systems team in researching, designing, and evaluating systems and/or processes to meet customer requirements

Write mechanical performance requirements for product development or engineering projects

Perform detailed mechanical or fluid calculations to compute and establish manufacturing standards or specifications

Utilize engineering theory and simulation models to assess feasibility, sustainability, and operating condition effects

Compile data and write reports regarding existing or potential mechanical engineering studies or projects


Knowledge:

โ€ข Basic knowledge of 3D modeling techniques

โ€ข Familiar with Finite Element Analysis and computational fluid dynamics

โ€ข Familiar with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) design requirements

โ€ข Basic knowledge of computer hardware and systems integration

โ€ข Experience working in a fast-paced environment

โ€ข Basic knowledge of mechanical component industry standards

โ€ข Basic understanding of commonly practiced concepts related to Mechanical Engineering theory


Skills:

โ€ข Works well both independently and in a team environment and is willing to change priorities as needed

โ€ข Multitasking skills including the ability to work across multiple software platforms

โ€ข Use hand tools (caliper, micrometer, feeler gauge, fluid pressure meter, infrared thermal cameras, etc.)

Abilities:

โ€ข Inspect and troubleshoot computer related hardware components at an assembly level

โ€ข Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (AutoDesk inventor, AutoCAD, Ansys simulation software)

โ€ข Create, read, and compare technical data sheets


Required Qualification

โ€ข Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected personโ€)

โ€ข Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or related field required


Preferred Qualification

โ€ข 3+ years of mechanical component design or manufacturing experience

โ€ข 3+ years of CAD software related work

โ€ข Extensive knowledge of computer equipment (PC, firewall, switch, data acquisition systems, UPS, server rack equipment, etc.)

โ€ข Basic knowledge of harsh mechanical environments
