About the Position

Dexis is seeking a Data Collector II to support a large-scale Army test and evaluation program. The project provides data collection, technical writing, computer operations, range scheduling, and administrative support services necessary to execute the government's test mission. Support encompasses testing of a wide variety of automotive, combat, electronic, general equipment, and ordnance materiel, with services including data collection and coordination, data compilation and processing, development and management of data collection forms, test monitoring, technical writing and editorial review, reporting, data and software administration, range scheduling, and related operational support.

The Data Collector II follows test items through all phases of testing and independently records detailed operational and maintenance data. The role documents test conditions and equipment performance, evaluates technical information, and interviews test personnel to capture information related to safety, human factors, and maintainability.

Work will be performed primarily onsite in Aberdeen, Maryland, with travel to other locations within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) as required by mission needs. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities
  • Follow test items through all phases of testing and observe associated operations and maintenance activities.
  • Record specific information on structured data sheets and/or laptop computers for processing.
  • Maintain a detailed chronological record of operational and maintenance-related test data.
  • Document operational information such as mission event descriptions and conditions, equipment configuration, test area, weather, hours of operation, personnel involved, and servicing actions performed.
  • Document maintenance information including operational test life, malfunctions, discovery of test incidents, corrective actions, maintenance level, parts involved, and the time and steps required for repair.
  • Personally observe test incidents and independently record required data in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Read instructions, perform arithmetic computations, and review and evaluate technical manuals.
  • Interview test personnel for comments related to safety, human factors, and design-for-maintainability problem areas.
  • Perform routine Data Collector tasks as required.
  • Perform job functions at sites other than Aberdeen as required.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a technical area and six (6) months of experience performing data collection involving military or nonmilitary equipment and associated maintenance concepts; OR one (1) year of experience performing data collection involving military or nonmilitary equipment and associated maintenance concepts.
  • Must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher in each individual discipline of math and science and a GPA of 3.0 or higher in high school English or a GPA of 2.5 or higher in college English from an accredited high school or university.
  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned functions, which may include working in extreme heat or cold, high humidity, blowing sand and dust, confined spaces, at heights, and walking distances over unimproved terrain while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be available to support work outside normal duty hours when required by mission needs.
  • Must be willing and able to travel within CONUS and OCONUS as required.
