The Position

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Design and Build Engineer to oversee the end-to-end planning, design and construction of data center facilities.

The ideal candidate will collaborate with clients to develop customized solutions that meet specific requirements, while adhering to industry best practices. This role involves working with cross-functional teams to ensure that data center deployments are efficient, scalable and aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading custom data center design solutions, optimizing space and ensuring efficient layouts

  • Developing structured cabling designs that support current and future business needs

  • Creating comprehensive power and capacity planning strategies to maximize efficiency and scalability

  • Ensuring designs align with Uptime Institute Tier standards and industry best practices

Infrastructure & Technology Integration

  • Overseeing the design and implementation of network and IT infrastructure for high-performance environments

  • Providing expertise in structured cabling, power distribution and cooling strategies

  • Ensuring seamless technology migration by developing plans for relocating IT workloads without disruption

Construction & Project Management

  • Managing data center build-outs from conception to completion, ensuring projects stay on time and within budget

  • Coordinating with vendors and contractors to procure and deploy infrastructure according to project requirements

  • Implementing modular construction methods for faster and more flexible deployments

  • Maintaining vendor-neutrality by selecting the best solutions tailored to client needs

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensuring data center designs meet local regulations, compliance standards and industry certifications

  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing strategies for business continuity and disaster recovery

  • Maintaining documentation and best practices for safety, security and operational efficiency

Client Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

  • Offering post-build support to optimize data center performance and ensure long-term scalability

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrable experience in data center design, construction or IT infrastructure deployment

  • Strong understanding of power and cooling solutions for data centers

  • Expertise in structured cabling design and network infrastructure

  • Experience in technology migration planning and execution

  • Ability to work with modular construction methodologies

  • Knowledge of data center compliance and risk management frameworks

  • Proficiency in Sunbird DCIM is a plus
