Owner's Rep - Field Engineer - Data Center - Ashburn, VA
Our client is a Nationally ranked MEP Engineering Design firm that is a leader in the data center space. This role will be onsite at various Data Center projects during construction. They provide design, commissioning, consulting and management expertise in Data Center / Mission Critical Facilities Space with the mindset to provide reliability, energy efficiency, sustainable design and LEED expertise when providing these consulting services for Enterprise, Colocation, and Hyperscale Data Center Projects. This role will involve supporting the customer's data center design / construction project as they will be the Company's onsite eye's and ears at the project site for the engineering design team. Candidate will assist with the interpretation of design requirements / design docs from the client and translate the requirements to the design team. Candidate will communicate with the offsite design team and the onsite construction team: change orders, new requirements, assist with construction administration, respond to RFI's, RFP's, etc. They will oversee implementation of design.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design team and construction partner and communicating with all the trades and stakeholders involved in the project
  • Manage projects, review designs and plans, provide and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical, mechanical engineering design support role for data center facility design projects.
  • Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings onsite with the client
  • Support Data Center Operations with any design upgrades at the site
  • Work with Management to respond to RFPs
  • Establish project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policies Put these in clear concise work statement for the field
  • Represent the company in project meetings as needed

Qualifications:

  • 5-15+ years experience in Design, Construction or Commissioning in a data center
  • The ideal candidate will have past experience designing electrical / mechanical systems / previous field experience in data centers
  • Work and communicate with internal / external customer and clients effectively is a must
  • Experience / knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution System design and installation. Previous experience with electrical equipment design to include Generators, UPS systems and electrical switchgear is a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar engineering degree a plus
  • Licensed PE / EIT a Plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD for review and tweaks for any design plans a plus and helpful
  • Previous experience using: Revit MEP projects, BIM a plus
  • Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience a must
  • Electrical / Mechanical equipment testing experience in a Critical Facilities / facility environment a plus
  • Ability to successfully work independently
  • Self Starter, self motivated, and should prioritize well
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus! Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction)
