CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Database Management, Modeling and Development:

  • Administer and maintain the P21 databases (SQL) to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
  • Create and maintain logical and physical data models to ensure data integrity and efficient use of resources.
  • Implement database structures based on application requirements and best practices.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide effective database solutions.
  • Manage user access and permissions to databases, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations while minimizing downtime and impact on business operations.
  • Oversee SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to design, develop, and deploy reports for various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Create/Maintain SSIS packages used for importing/exporting/updating data.

Data Security and Integrity:

  • Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Perform regular data integrity checks and implement measures to address any discrepancies.
  • Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data.
  • Regularly audit and update user permissions and access controls.

Performance Tuning & Query Optimization:

  • Conduct regular performance tuning and optimization of database systems for efficient and fast query execution.
  • Collaborate with the data science team to optimize SQL queries and improve overall system performance.
  • Write efficient, tuned, and well-documented SQL queries to extract, update, and manipulate data.

Backup, Recovery and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with the technology team to develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data.
  • Test and verify backups to ensure the ability to restore systems in case of data loss.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Develop and update documentation for database-related policies and best practices.
  • Critical Business Partner
    • Work with end users to understand business requirements for reports/processes and be able to ‘assist’ users in defining those requirements.
    • Work with outside vendors to develop/expand business solutions – SLIM4 and Salesforce
    • Assist power users with queries against the data warehouse / data lake


  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting la
    • nguages.
    • Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and optimization techniques.
    • Experience with database security and data protection measures.


    • Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on P21(5+ years of experience)
    • In-depth knowledge of database
    • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for report development and management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.


    • In-depth knowledge of database architecture, design, and performance optimization
    • Experience with database security and data protection measures.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
    • Experience with Cloud Database (e.g. Azure) Administration a plus.
    • 10% Travel
