Job description


As the Data Center Operations Manager, you will oversee all aspects of onsite data center operations, including the leadership of Data Center Technicians and logistics teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of critical data center infrastructure while supporting operational excellence and business objectives. This role operates within a highly secure, structured, and mission-critical data center environment supporting 24x7x365 operations. The work environment may include elevated noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and frequent interaction with critical infrastructure and equipment. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in both routine and urgent situations. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as regular bending, stooping, climbing, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and develop onsite Data Center Technicians, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and operational best practices.
  • Coordinate logistics activities, including inventory management, equipment movement, asset tracking, and material handling within the data center environment.
  • Monitor data center operations and performance, responding to incidents and operational issues in a timely manner to minimize service disruption and downtime.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and execute maintenance activities, infrastructure upgrades, and capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, industry standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
    Maintain accurate operational documentation and provide regular reporting on operational status, asset health, and team performance.
  • Support a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across data center operations.

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree (U.S.) or College Diploma (Canada) in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1+ year of experience managing data center operations and/or technical teams in a 24x7 operational environment.
  • Experience with logistics operations, inventory management, and asset tracking systems.
  • Exposure to IT hardware operations with experience supporting incident management and change management processes.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and server hardware.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, always-on operational environment.
  • Familiarity with data center monitoring platforms and automation tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of experience managing data center operations and technical teams is preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as CDCP, PMP, ITIL, or comparable credentials are preferred
