Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Amarillo welcomes an Assistant or Associate Professor to serve as a Pediatric Hospitalist. The role involves providing inpatient and outpatient care for a diverse pediatric patient population, supervising residents, mentoring trainees, and participating in clinical teaching within a family‑centered, evidence‑based environment.

Major / Essential Functions
  • Perform comprehensive patient examinations and compile medical data.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, such as X‑ray and ECG.
  • Prescribe medication and manage health status over time.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and families on compliance, emotional issues, and health maintenance.
  • Provide supervision, mentoring, and teaching to residents and students.
Required Qualifications
  • MD, DO or foreign equivalent degree.
  • Completion of USMLE Step 3 or in the process of completing an ACGME‑accredited pediatric residency.
  • Board certified, board eligible, or in process of becoming board eligible in General Pediatrics; expected to maintain certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records.
