Overview

NV5Geospatial is currently seeking an Associate Data Manager to support an Air Force Geospatial Program by managing, organizing, and ensuring the integrity of geospatial and related datasets. This role involves data processing, quality control, and implementing best practices for data security and accessibility. The ideal candidate will have experience with geospatial data management, database systems, and Air Force or DoD data security protocols.  This position offers an opportunity to contribute to mission-critical geospatial operations while developing expertise in data management, security, and Air Force geospatial technology!

Work Environment:

  • Location:  Must be located near St. Louis, MO. This is an onsite position at Scott AFB. 
  • Travel up to 10% of the time

Responsibilities
  • Assist in organizing, storing, and maintaining geospatial data in accordance with Air Force and DoD policies.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security through proper management practices and quality control measures.
  • Support data ingestion, transformation, and distribution for geospatial applications and mission requirements.
  • Work with analysts and system administrators to optimize data workflows and storage solutions.
  • Assist in metadata management, tagging, and documentation for efficient data retrieval.
  • Apply DoD and Air Force cybersecurity policies to protect sensitive geospatial data.
  • Troubleshoot data access issues, inconsistencies, and format conversions as needed.
  • Collaborate with developers, GIS specialists, and system administrators to enhance data accessibility and performance. 
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Active Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Data Management, GIS, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML, raster datasets).
  • Understanding of database management (SQL, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data security protocols and handling of classified information.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a classified, fast-paced environment supporting Air Force operations. 

Preferred (in addition to above requirements): 

  • Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of DoD and Air Force geospatial data policies.
  • Understanding of cloud-based geospatial data management.
  • Familiarity with Python or scripting languages for data automation.
  • Experience working in a mission-critical defense environment.
