Job description

Assist students in the Say Yes Scholarship Program at The University of Akron and other retention initiatives within Exploratory Advising and Academic Support. The Program Manager will support scholars to achieve their educational goals by offering life coaching and support throughout their academic career. Serve as a liaison to other departments on campus and develop student programming to support students through their collegiate experience. Assist in supporting students throughout their pursuit of a professional degree. Provide program/project planning and management and case management. Establish and build rapport through collaboration with internal and external partners.
Essential Functions:
40% Serve as the onsite contact for the Say Yes Cleveland Scholarship program. Work closely with UA and Say Yes Cleveland Scholarship administration in the on-going development and implementation of program support. Develop and implement student programming and assess program outcomes to promote, support and share the mission, vision, and pathways of The University of Akron. Communicate and foster relationships on behalf of UA with students, parents, Say Yes Administration and the community at large. Recruit and assist in the transition from high school to UA.
40% Provide academic advising and "Life Coaching" of students, as well as mentoring. Assist students in contacting appropriate campus and community resources. Assist in recruitment, transition, and financial aid activities. Support and coach students regarding academic matters and the educational alternatives open to them. Interpret and disseminate information to students regarding University requirements and academic/administration procedures. Contact students and maintain relationships to monitor academic progress.
20% Maintains and assists with data collection and reporting. Represent UA at meetings as requested.
Other duties as assigned.

Education:
Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
Drivers License.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 2 years' experience in case management and programming in an education setting, social service setting, or related field. Understanding of the policies and procedures surrounding college admissions, recruitment, marketing, advising, and basic student financial aid required. Strong interpersonal, organizational, computer and oral and written communications skills required. Ability to provide case management and student support services in a higher education setting preferred. Experience working with first-generation populations in an educational setting required. Ability to travel regionally required.
Preferred Qualifications (optional): Master's Degree Preferred.
