Job description

Overview

Nakupuna Federal is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join our team of talented professionals providing services to NAVAIR programs. This individual will support service delivery as well as grow our line of business. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver who promotes collaboration and embraces learning and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of NAVAIR programs, ensuring performance across cost, schedule, and technical requirements; manage schedules, risks, deliverables, and program reviews.
  • Oversee financial and contract management, including budgeting, forecasting, burn rates, subcontractor oversight, and compliance with FAR/DFARS and audit requirements.
  • Serve as primary interface with NAVAIR PMAs, IPTs, and government stakeholders; build customer relationships and deliver executive-level briefings.
  • Direct cross-functional teams and align staffing, while mentoring personnel and driving performance across engineering, logistics, and sustainment efforts.
  • Ensure integration of technical and operational activities supporting aviation lifecycle readiness, airworthiness, and mission effectiveness.
  • Drive business development by identifying opportunities, managing pipeline, supporting capture efforts, shaping requirements, and contributing to proposals.
  • Expand existing work through on-contract growth and adjacent opportunities across NAVAIR programs and customers.
  • Align program execution with corporate strategy, track market trends and competitors, and support account planning and long-range growth.
  • Promote process improvement, innovation, and adoption of best practices to enhance efficiency and mission outcomes.
Qualifications

Skills/Qualifications: The ideal candidate possesses expertise and experience in both operations and the business development cycle. Specifically, the ideal candidate will be familiar with and have experience with the following technical knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Demonstrated experience managing a workforce in a NAVAIR Program Office. 
  • In-depth knowledge of overall NAVAIR and non-NAVAIR acquisition and acquisition management to work with various customers to understand their needs in acquisition/requirements management and execution management; budget and finance; data management; and workflow scheduling. 
  • Project management skills and experience collaborating with teams. Experience working in or with federal government and/or military is required.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral communication skills. Ability to apply stylistic and grammatical standards to a variety of content types.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize. Ability to work under pressure and sometimes after core business hours to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience working across teams. Willingness to share expertise with others and give and receive honest feedback.

Education and Experience: 10+ years of experience performing duties described in the functional description preferred

Location: Patuxent River, Maryland  

Clearance Requirements: This position requires an active SECRET security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.

The Nakupuna Companies use a market-based compensation strategy to ensure that our employees are compensated within applicable market ranges commensurate with multiple factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, and position location. The projected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 to $180,000.00 (annualized USD). The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Nakupuna Companies total compensation package for employees.
