Job description

Title: Data Processing Analyst
Location: Nashville, TN – Hybrid  (7.5 hrs Daily)
Duration: 12 Months
Description:
The Data Processing Analyst supports the Tennessee Department of Health by processing and maintaining Viral Hepatitis surveillance data in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NBS). This role ensures accurate data entry, case review, quality assurance, and compliance with CDC/CSTE case definitions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process and enter Hepatitis B (HBV) and Hepatitis C (HCV) laboratory and case data into NBS.
  • Review surveillance records and manage assigned case review queues.
  • Apply CDC/CSTE case definitions to determine reportable case status.
  • Identify acute, chronic, reinfection, perinatal, infant, and fetal death cases.
  • Perform routine data validation, quality assurance, and data cleaning activities.
  • Process paper, electronic, and orphan laboratory reports.
  • Resolve incomplete or inconsistent data records.
  • Coordinate medical record requests and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Communicate data issues and findings with program leadership.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and program activities
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in data entry or data processing.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with public health, healthcare, laboratory, or medical records.
  • Familiarity with disease surveillance systems (NBS, NEDSS, or similar).
  • Knowledge of CDC/CSTE case definitions or communicable disease reporting.
