Job Description Summary

The Senior Data Analyst leads data engineering and data science projects within the lab, turning complex biomedical datasets into robust pipelines, rigorous analyses, and actionable scientific insight. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and research team, this position designs and builds data workflows, develops and applies statistical and machine-learning methods, and ensures the integrity, reproducibility, and quality of the lab's analytical work.

This role requires domain expertise in biomedical informatics, AI/machine learning, or a closely related field, with a focus on immune health and/or high-dimensional omics data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, single-cell, or multi-omics).

This is a senior staff position that operates with significant independence and scientific judgment, and may provide technical mentorship to junior analysts and trainees.

This position is contingent upon continued funding.

Job DescriptionJob Responsibilities
  • Data engineering: design, build, and maintain reproducible data pipelines and workflows for ingesting, cleaning, integrating, and transforming large-scale omics and biomedical datasets.
  • Data science & analysis: develop and apply statistical, machine-learning, and AI methods to derive insight from immune-health and omics data; lead analyses from question formulation through interpretation.
  • Project leadership: lead assigned data engineering and data science projects end to end-scoping, planning, and delivering results-while coordinating with the PI and collaborators on priorities and timelines.
  • Communication & reporting: produce clear analyses, visualizations, and documentation; contribute to manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations; and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Rigor, reproducibility & mentorship: uphold standards for code quality, version control, and reproducible research; maintain documentation; and provide technical guidance to junior analysts and trainees.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Health Information Systems, or Technology Management and 4 to 6 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree preferred.

  • 7+ years of computer programming experience preferred
  • Significant experience with Java/Scala or Golang required
  • Significant experience with Functional Programming required
  • Significant experience with Clinical Software Platform Development Required
  • SaaS industry experience a plus
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure, serverless and containerized SaaS required
  • Experience with SQL and databases required
  • Experience with graph databases, Python a plus
  • Experience with Linux, Windows, Mac OS operating systems
  • Ability to work independently and apply critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members
