Job description

A leading transportation organization is seeking an experienced Recruiting Manager to lead the strategy, execution, and day-to-day management of recruiting owner-operators and independent contractor drivers. This leadership role is responsible for building a strong pipeline of qualified Class A CDL drivers while overseeing the recruiting and onboarding process from initial outreach through qualification. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the transportation industry, a proven ability to develop successful recruiting strategies, and experience leading a high-performing recruiting team. This individual will work closely with operations and safety leadership to ensure contractor hiring goals are achieved while maintaining exceptional service for prospective and existing contractors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute innovative recruiting strategies to attract qualified owner-operators and independent contractor drivers.
  • Create and manage targeted recruiting campaigns across digital advertising, social media, referral programs, job boards, and third-party lead providers.
  • Oversee the recruiting budget, ensuring marketing dollars are allocated effectively to maximize candidate generation and return on investment.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Contractor Services team, including recruiters and processing staff, while establishing performance goals and tracking key metrics.
  • Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified contractor candidates through effective sourcing and relationship management.
  • Manage the applicant tracking system and recruiting workflow to ensure an organized, efficient hiring process.
  • Partner closely with the Safety team to ensure all contractor qualifications and driver files meet company standards as well as DOT and FMCSA compliance requirements.
  • Deliver an outstanding candidate experience by providing timely communication and exceptional customer service throughout the recruiting process.
  • Analyze recruiting performance and regularly report hiring metrics, trends, and recommendations to leadership.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience recruiting independent contractors and owner-operators within the trucking industry.
  • Demonstrated success leading recruiting teams and consistently achieving aggressive hiring objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation operations, driver recruiting best practices, and contractor acquisition strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze recruiting data and use metrics to improve hiring performance and team effectiveness.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
