Position Summary:

The Data Specialist independently conducts quantitative, qualitative, mixed-method, and survey-based research supporting NACHC's national research agenda. The position analyzes complex health-related data, develops evidence-based publications, and contributes to sponsored research, policy analyses, and strategic initiatives that inform Community Health Centers, policymakers, and national partners.

Working closely with the Data Analytics Manager, the Data Specialist provides technical support throughout the research lifecycle, including study design, survey development, data collection, statistical analysis, literature reviews, interpretation of findings, and dissemination of research products.

Key Responsibilities:
    1. Research Design and Data Analysis
  • Conduct quantitative, qualitative, mixedmethod, survey, and secondarydata analyses using UDS and other national health datasets.
  • Design and program surveys, develop data collection tools, and monitor data quality throughout project implementation.
  • Clean, validate, merge, manage, and analyze complex datasets while ensuring data integrity and methodological accuracy.
  • Develop statistical tables, dashboards, charts, maps, and other data visualizations to communicate research findings.
    1. 2. Research Implementation and Scientific Support
  • Conduct literature reviews, environmental scans, and background research to support study design and proposal development.
  • Assist in developing research protocols, analytic plans, survey instruments, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Perform qualitative coding, thematic analysis, and synthesis of research findings.
  • Ensure research documentation and analytic files are complete, accurate, and reproducible.
    1. 3. Publications and Dissemination
  • Draft reports, issue briefs, fact sheets, manuscripts, conference abstracts, presentations, and other research products.
  • Translate complex research findings into accessible materials for health centers, policymakers, and other audiences.
  • Develop presentation materials, infographics, dashboards, and visual summaries of research findings.
  • Support conference presentations, webinars, technical assistance activities, and dissemination of research results.
    1. 4. Project Coordination and Collaboration
  • Coordinate assigned research activities and monitor project timelines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, consultants, health centers, and external research partners.
  • Maintain project documentation, shared workspaces, research databases, and tracking systems.
  • Support proposal development, grant reporting, and other sponsored research activities.

    Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, health services research, biostatistics, public policy, social science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of applied research experience, including quantitative or qualitative analysis.
  • Experience conducting survey research, statistical analysis, or program evaluation preferred.
  • Knowledge of quantitative, qualitative, and mixedmethod research methodologies.
  • Experience analyzing healthrelated data and interpreting research findings.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and criticalthinking skills.
  • Excellent scientific writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • 10% travel to NACHC conferences and events.
  • Key Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, SAS, Stata, R or other advanced analytic software preferred
  • Experience with survey platforms such as Qualtrics or SurveyMonkey.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, ArcGIS, or other data visualization tools preferred.
