Job description

The Senior IT Project Manager for Data Analytics as a Service (DAaaS) plays a central role in leading complex, cross-functional initiatives that establish scalable analytics capabilities and trusted, wellgoverned data assets across the organization. The position drives efforts to reimagine how data, analytics, and technology are leveraged to support their mission empowering staff, leadership, and cross-functional teams with actionable insights and enabling data-driven decision-making at all levels.

This is a three-year limited term position. This position is a hybrid work environment opportunity, not a permanent remote assignment. The successful candidate must be a California resident when employment begins, reside within a commutable distance, and must work at least one day per week on campus.

Strategic Data & Analytics Initiatives includes four core initiatives with potential discovery for more:

  1. iPaaS Implementation; Oversee the completion and optimization of the Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) implementation, ensure seamless data integration across enterprise systems and applications and Establish integration standards, governance, and best practices.
  2. Enterprise Reporting Strategy; Help to develop a comprehensive, organization-wide reporting strategy that Assesses current reporting tools, platforms, and mechanisms in use across client and define a future-state reporting architecture and roadmap.
  3. Data Analytics Roadmap; Create a detailed analytics roadmap that outlines Strategic initiatives and priorities, implementation timelines and sequencing, measurable outcomes and success metrics and align roadmap with ERP, digital transformation, and organizational priorities.
  4. Data Integration & Data LakeHouse Enablement; Lead efforts to consolidate and integrate data from disparate systems into a centralized data lakehouse architecture, ensure data is structured, governed, and accessible to support analytics and reporting needs, and enable a unified data view that supports client s ERP functionalities and business operations.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced professional to join the Portfolio Project Management Office (PPMO) team. This position reports to the PPMO Manager and works closely with the Head of Data Analytics, Digital Visitor Experience Director, Enterprise Applications Director, and staff from across the organization, including product managers, engineers, and subject-matter experts to implement innovative solutions that address our user and business needs.

This position leads projects from the original concept through final implementation. This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of analytics platforms, products, and services using a service-oriented operating model, while also supporting the implementation and adoption of enterprise data governance practices. The role partners closely with analytics leadership, business stakeholders, and technology teams to ensure data and analytics solutions are delivered effectively, securely, and in alignment with client s strategic priorities.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Performs the full range of project management duties: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling, and closing
  • Under little to no supervision, directs projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed
  • Manage multiple simultaneous projects and workstreams with complex interdependencies
  • Track, coordinate, plan, and report on technical work across multiple teams and organizations
  • Collaborate with other project managers both within and outside the organization
  • Collaborate with software engineers, system administrators, and subject-matter experts
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus
  • Implement management and communication plans and processes
  • Communicate with partners and team members throughout the phases of development
  • Maintain project documentation, time frames, budget estimates, and status reports
  • Monitor project expenses and ensure adherence to the budget. Address cost overruns and budgetary issues promptly
  • Develop and implement change management strategies and communication to ensure project success
  • Identify potential project risks and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Address unexpected issues that may arise during the project. Implement effective problem-solving and escalation procedures
  • Prepare post-project reports, including lessons learned and recommendations for future projects
  • Regularly prepare presentations and/or present on this workto internal and external audiences
  • Effectively engage stakeholders at the executive level across multiple organizational units

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive software analysis development and implementation experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing complex technical projects within the cultural heritage domain
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), certified completion of a Project Management program, or certification in process is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to translate organizational goals into actionable data strategies.
  • Previous experience managing technology projects in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred: data analytics platforms and services, data lakehouse or warehouse solutions, business intelligence and visualization tools, data integration and interoperability initiatives, and complex enterprise systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to productively assemble, engage, and manage cross-functional teams
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally with key stakeholders, external partners, and senior management
  • Experience managing contracts and vendor relationships
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., Workfront, Jira)
  • Tact, diplomacy, and ability to work with a wide variety of audiences, including the ability to quickly develop good working relationships within a large organization
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Willingness and ability to travel
