Job description

Position Summary

BLDM is seeking a forward-thinking, hands-on technology leader who is passionate about innovation, artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity, data, and digital transformation.

The Manager of Technology & Digital Transformation is responsible for leading the organization's technology operations while helping shape the future of technology across the company. This position combines responsibility for reliable and secure IT infrastructure with the identification and implementation of technologies that improve operational efficiency, decision-making, collaboration, customer service, and overall business performance.

Serving as a strategic technology partner to executive leadership and business units, the Manager will translate operational challenges into practical technology solutions and identify opportunities to leverage enterprise systems, systems integration, automation, artificial intelligence, business intelligence, data analytics, and emerging technologies.

The successful candidate will balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and will be equally comfortable discussing technology opportunities with executive leadership, collaborating with operational teams, managing vendors and projects, and providing technical leadership when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Digital Transformation

  • Lead and continuously develop the organization's technology and digital transformation roadmap in alignment with business priorities.
  • Partner with executive leadership and department leaders to identify operational challenges that can be addressed through technology.
  • Identify opportunities for process automation, workflow optimization, systems integration, and digitalization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Business Intelligence (BI), predictive analytics, intelligent automation, and cloud-based solutions.
  • Assess proposed technology investments based on business value, operational impact, cybersecurity risk, scalability, cost, feasibility, and potential return on investment.
  • Champion innovation, experimentation, continuous improvement, and responsible technology adoption throughout the organization.
  • Lead change-management and user-adoption efforts associated with significant technology implementations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive professional experience involving technology initiatives, enterprise systems, digital transformation, systems integration, data/analytics, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or IT operations.
  • Demonstrated experience translating business needs and operational challenges into practical technology solutions.
  • Experience leading technology projects, system implementations, integrations, or significant technology initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise IT infrastructure, networking, virtualization, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, software implementation, and systems integration.
  • Experience working with internal business stakeholders and external technology vendors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project-management, and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, technical professionals, vendors, and end users.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable; candidates are not expected to possess expertise in every area:

  • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Power Platform, Power Automate, Power BI, or related Microsoft technologies.
  • Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, or comparable virtualization technologies.
  • Enterprise networking, switching, VLANs, routing, and network security.
  • Cybersecurity, identity/access management, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Business Intelligence, data analytics, dashboards, and executive reporting.
  • Artificial Intelligence, generative AI, Machine Learning, automation, or AI-enabled business applications.
  • ERP, HRIS, financial systems, EHS systems, project management platforms, or other enterprise applications.
  • API-based or other systems integration.
  • Construction technology, BIM, project controls, field applications, or construction management platforms.
  • Technology project management and organizational change management.

Professional certifications such as Microsoft, Azure, Cisco, CompTIA Security+, VMware, ITIL, PMP, cybersecurity, cloud, data/analytics, AI, or comparable credentials are preferred but not required.

Leadership Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strategic Thinking - Connects technology decisions to long-term business objectives.
  • Innovation Mindset - Actively identifies better ways of working and explores emerging technologies.
  • Business Acumen - Understands that technology investments must create measurable operational or business value.
  • Intellectual Curiosity - Continuously learns, explores, questions existing processes, and evaluates new possibilities.
  • Change Management - Builds stakeholder support and facilitates successful technology adoption.
  • Executive Presence - Communicates recommendations, risks, and opportunities clearly and credibly.
  • Customer Focus - Approaches technology as a service to internal and external customers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Builds effective partnerships across technical and operational functions.
  • Results Orientation - Moves initiatives from ideas to implementation and measurable outcomes.
  • Continuous Learning - Maintains current knowledge in a rapidly evolving technology environment.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is more than a traditional IT infrastructure manager. BLDM is seeking someone who combines technical credibility with business thinking, curiosity, creativity, and an entrepreneurial approach to technology.

This individual sees technology not simply as a support function, but as a tool for solving business problems and creating competitive advantage. The successful candidate should be capable of asking:

How can we do this better, faster, safer, smarter, or more efficiently through technology?

The individual should be comfortable moving from concept to execution-understanding a business problem, evaluating alternatives, developing a business case, selecting or designing an appropriate solution, coordinating implementation, and driving adoption.

Work Environment

The position is primarily office-based but supports technology systems and operations across corporate offices, construction projects, field operations, and affiliated business activities. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment involving multiple simultaneous projects and priorities. Periodic travel to project sites or other company locations may be required. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be necessary for critical system implementations, outages, cybersecurity events, upgrades, or other business needs.

Compensation varies based on the qualifications for the position. Positions will remain open until filled.
