Microsoft Commercial Business (MCB) is the engine that brings Microsoft's cloud, AI, and enterprise solutions to customers worldwide. Responsible for driving commercial revenue and long-term customer relationships across organizations of all sizes, MCB is at the center of Microsoft's growth strategy-translating innovation in Azure, Microsoft 365, Dynamics, and Copilot into real-world business value.
The People Analytics Director for Microsoft Commercial Business will serve as the strategic analytics and advisory partner to the MCB HR Leadership Team, translating workforce priorities into executive-ready data and insights that inform strategic decisions, drive measurable outcomes, and shape how MCB HRLT engages with workforce data. In this role, you will lead a team that connects business strategy to People Analytics by shaping demand, framing the right business questions with stakeholders, prioritizing the highest-impact work, and delivering decision-ready analyses that guide action and enable outcomes related to business performance, organizational health, and growth. You will apply a wide range of analytical tools and techniques to create data-driven narratives and presentations, supporting programs, events, and leadership forums. You and your team will track external workforce and industry trends, compare them to internal data, and communicate relevant findings to stakeholders to guide strategic decisions and enhance organizational agility. Ultimately, in this role you will support some of Microsoft's most complex and consequential decisions, where workforce strategy directly influences customer impact, execution at scale, and sustained growth.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the strategic direction for people analytics across Microsoft Commercial Business (MCB) and enterprise-wide functions, ensuring alignment to business priorities and people outcomes.
  • Serve as the strategic analytics partner to the MCB HR Corporate Vice President and their leadership team; translate complex people data into actionable insights that drive C-suite and leadership-level decisions.
  • Determine appropriate analytical and statistical techniques to address business and research questions, execute analyses, and interpret results with actionable recommendations for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Lead the evolution of People Analytics delivery model, enabling the shift from reactive reporting to proactive, AI-infused decision support, including self-service analytics and predictive intelligence.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing global analytics team, applying Microsoft's model-coach-care framework to grow team capability, prioritize high-impact work, and build a culture of rigor and innovation.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on HR data governance, privacy, and ethical use, modeling the highest standards of compliance and stewardship. You'll remain consistently aware of changes in data privacy and exemplify and enforce team standards related to bias, privacy, and responsible use of AI.
  • Embrace the use and contribute to continuous improvement of the latest innovative data solutions and analytical tools enabling analytics & advisory work as customer zero.

This role follows a hybrid work model for candidates within 50 miles of the Redmond, WA offices, with an expectation of 3 days per week in office work. Candidates outside this geographic area may be eligible for a remote work arrangement.

  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 12+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years people management experience and/or informal/indirect team leadership experience.
  • 5+ years of people analytics experience

Data Analytics M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year.
