Job description

Waccamaw EOC is looking to hire a Family Service Worker.
Under the general supervision of the Family Service Manager, using analytical judgment assists in implementing the activities of the Family Service Component in all aspects of the Head Start Program.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains and completes current maintenance records for all Head Start vehicles.
  • Supervises regular preventive maintenance and emergency repairs of all Head Start vehicles.
  • Ensure daily vehicle inspection of all Head Start vehicles is completed by drivers.
  • Develop estimates for budget preparation in the areas of vehicle expense and maintenance.
  • Coordinate and implement plans for staff to acquire a CDL driver’s license.
  • Collects and compiles data needed for the preparation of reports relating to the transportation program.
  • Ensures that all vehicles are safe kept clean and in sound operating condition.
  • Monitors vendor bills for repairs on vehicles.
  • Ensures that vehicles meet applicable state and local licensing; fire, health, and safety regulations, and laws regarding environmental hazards.
  • Maintains files/record-keeping system and provides data and reports as required.
  • Coordinate the transportation on a day-to-day basis.
  • Maintain a file of DOT physicals and CDL renewals and know when they expire.
  • Train all drivers.
  • Monitor and evaluate the transportation system.
  • Schedule vehicle repairs as necessary.
  • Manage bus maintenance with vendors based on service contracts.
  • Assist the responsible party to ensure the renewal of liability insurance is completed on all vehicles on an annual basis and new insurance cards are placed in all vehicles.
  • When necessary, coordinate transportation services with Center Supervisors to enable children to be transported to medical and dental appointments.
  • May assist the Head Start Director in the interviewing process for transportation employees.
  • Attend all pertinent workshops, seminars, pre-service, and in-service training as required and follow an individualized professional development plan.
  • Assists in bus maintenance service bidding and preparation of contracts for the inclusion of required services.
  • Sets annual goals with staff and conducts staff evaluations annually.
  • Assists in increasing in-kind services and donations each year.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned within state and federal guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A. NECESSARY (ENTRY REQUIREMENTS):
  • Must have within 18 months of hire, a credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field.
  • Bachelor of Social Science Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in an associated field, plus two years’ experience in social work.
  • Minimum of one year experience in community partnership and collaboration.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Able to attend overnight meetings and workshops.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain and retrieve files.
  • Must be able to pass a SLED/FBI criminal background check.
  • Must be able to pass a Central Registry Check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening.
  • Must be able to pass a Staff Health Assessment for Caring for Children.
  • Must have a Tuberculosis Certification.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents.

B. DESIRABLE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Social Sciences and five years’ experience in social work.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in community programs.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in government regulations and guidelines for the operation of the Head Start Program.
  • Certified Social Service license (with one year experience).
