Purpose

We are seeking a Data & AI Governance Analyst to support Compliance Trade Surveillance data governance activities and help establish AI Governance practices within Compliance. The successful candidate will work with Compliance, Technology, and Data Management stakeholders to improve data quality, strengthen governance controls, support audit readiness, and contribute to the responsible adoption of AI. The role aligns with Compliance's ongoing Trade Surveillance Data Governance and AI Governance initiatives.

Accountabilities

Data Governance

  • Identify and manage Critical Data Elements (CDEs), metadata, and authoritative data sources.
  • Develop and maintain data lineage, data flow diagrams, and source-to-target mappings.
  • Define and monitor data quality rules and controls.
  • Conduct data profiling, issue investigation, root cause analysis, and remediation validation.
  • Support governance documentation, audit evidence, and regulatory readiness activities.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to improve data quality and governance practices.

AI Governance

  • Support the implementation of Compliance AI Governance practices.
  • Maintain inventories of AI solutions, models, and agents.
  • Contribute to governance standards, procedures, and reporting.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Perform SQL-based analysis and data validation.
  • Support testing activities associated with data quality validation.
  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Maintains a good understanding of the Bank's business strategies, policies, risk management and IT processes and disciplines.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, and conduct risk.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.

Education/Experience

Required

  • 2+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Management, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of data lineage, metadata, CDEs, source-to-target mapping, and data quality frameworks.
  • Advanced SQL skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment.

Preferred

  • Banking, Capital Markets, Trade Surveillance, Compliance, Risk, or Regulatory Reporting experience.
  • Experience with Collibra or similar governance platforms.
  • Power BI and Python experience.
  • Exposure to AI Governance, Responsible AI, or Model Governance.
