Job description

Location: Global: Finland (Helsinki), Sweden (Vasteras), Norway (Fornebu), USA and other Marine & Ports locations can be considered.

In this role, you will lead and shape the AI, Data, and Information Systems agenda for ABB's Marine & Ports Division. Reporting directly to the Division President, you will play a pivotal role in driving AI-led transformation, intelligent process improvement, and data-driven decision-making across a global business.

As Head of Data and IS, you will build and lead a unified AI, Data, and IS organization, consolidating currently distributed capabilities into one strategic function. You will define how the Division leverages AI and digital technologies to improve processes, enhance decision-making, and deliver measurable business value, while ensuring alignment with existing IS strategy and governance.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Develop and execute Division-wide AI, Data, and IS strategy aligned with ABB Corporate and Business Area strategic direction, as well as Marine & Ports business objectives.
  • Lead governance, prioritization, and delivery of digital transformation initiatives related to IS, applications, data infrastructure, AI, and cybersecurity
  • Consolidate and lead Division AI, Data, IS, analytics, reporting, and application management resources into a unified high-performing organization
  • Establish governance frameworks, policies, and standards for AI usage, data management, and information systems across the Division, ensuring alignment with existing IS and cybersecurity strategies
  • Drive data governance, master data management, reporting, and analytics capabilities through platforms such as PowerBI and Snowflake
  • Define and implement the Division AI strategy, including responsible AI governance, innovation initiatives, and AI capability development
  • Lead the development, optimization, and integration of enterprise applications, digital workflows, and business processes to improve operational efficiency
  • Partner closely with Business Lines, corporate stakeholders, and functional organizations to align priorities, manage demand, and deliver scalable digital solutions

Qualifications for the role

Experience & Expertise:

  • Leadership experience within AI, Data, Analytics, or Technology organizations, including AI-driven and digital transformation initiatives
  • Strong expertise in AI technologies, advanced analytics, cloud platforms, and information systems, with understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field

Leadership Capabilities:

  • Strong strategic leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives
  • Proven ability to lead organizational changes, drive AI adoption, build high-performing teams, and foster cross-functional collaboration in global environments
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to operate effectively in complex organizations
