Job description

Student Employee - Data Analyst
The Student Data Analyst (SDA) will be responsible for providing support to the Manager of Data & Analysis Services. The SDA will perform duties that require them to be well-organized and detailed-oriented; leveraging these skills to effectively manage time and fulfill different projects. The position also includes duties that involve organizing, analyzing, and storing public and private information of Ensign College.
Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills to interact across multiple levels of the organization. Being comfortable to liaise with other departments, personnel, and external business entities is a necessity. Candidate must be capable of working well within a fast-paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment.

Student Employees are eligible to work on campus in a part time capacity according to Ensign College Student Employment Policy. In addition to fulfilling this purpose, each employee continuously strives to bring about the mission of Ensign College, which is to develop capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ.

Hours: Average 12 - 15 hours per week, maximum 19 hours per week during semester and the starting wage for all student employees is $14.00 per hour with the possibility of $.25 rate increase each semester of continued work based on merit.

Job Description

  • Research, clean, and analyze data for different projects using SQL

  • Create dashboard visualizations using Power BI or different visualization tools.

  • Assist in the conception, development, and delivery of creative solutions for tracking students and institutional progress.

  • Promote continual creative improvement and actively contribute to a culture of innovation, excellence, teamwork and accountability.

  • Other dutiesinclude creation and implementation ofprocess improvements and the ability to learn new tools and software for efficiency improvement.


Requirements:

  • Capable of working well within a fast paced, dynamic, and team-oriented environment.

  • Knowledge of office administration and comparable work experience.

  • Proficient hands-on computer experience including working with MS Office products specifically versed in Excel using Vlookups, Pivot Tables and other complex formulas.

  • Experience in Qualtrics, Tableau and SQL is also beneficial.

  • Basic understanding of descriptive statistics is required.

  • A self-starter able to ask the right questions as appropriate and manage multiple tasks to completion.

  • Able to convey complex information in accurate and clear business terms sometimes to college leadership.

  • Well-organized and detailed-oriented.

  • Strong ability to provide clear direction, follow up and timely feedback to team members and to improve processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities at all levels of both the department team and administration, faculty, staff, vendors and students as required.

  • Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short and long-term needs.

  • Positive, proactive attitude.
