Job Description Classification: Data Analyst 1 Department: Research Department, Iowa Department of Corrections (DOC) Location: Des Moines, Iowa Reports To: Research Director Job Description The Iowa Department of Corrections Research Department is seeking a highly analytical and mission-driven data analyst to join our team. Under the direction of the Research Director, this position will support data and analytics, our offender management system (OMS), and data literacy efforts across the agency. This role is critical to our efforts in reducing recidivism and improving public safety through data-driven decision-making.

You will help to transform raw correctional data into actionable insights, helping leadership understand population trends, program effectiveness, and gain better visibility into operations. Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Four years of full-time work experience in business/data/statistical analytics, economic research, or data science. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management equals one year of full-time experience. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in business analytics, economics, data science, statistics, mathematics, management information systems, or industrial management.

All of the following (a and b): a. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience; and b. Possession of a professional certificate in data science, business analytics, or data analytics.
