Duties Description Work with business units to develop and build models in support of analytic use cases; drafts technical requirements and data definitions; provides input on current approaches and recommends improvements to best achieve goals; reviews and suggests improvements to current or planned systems and processes; performs data extraction, aggregation, and quality checks from multiple sources and tables in support of trend identification and root cause analysis; summarizes results, creates written reports and collaborates with staff to develop business intelligence solutions.
As a Data Analyst 1, you will use your technical and analytical skills to evaluate a range of government programs and program areas including policy, procedures, operations, objectives and cost effectiveness to determine actual or potential risk. You will research, identify, and evaluate data sources to determine reliability or usability limitations, and collect, manipulate, analyze, and interpret data, and present results to supervision, covering conclusions and recommendations based on evaluations made.
Minimum Qualifications To be appointed to Data Analyst Trainee 1 (equated to SG-14), you must have:
• Four (4) years of professional experience in data visualization and statistical models and data mining tools
OR
• A bachelor's degree or higher in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
To be appointed to Data Analyst Trainee 2 (equated to SG-16), you must have:
• Five (5) years of professional experience in data visualization and statistical models and data mining tools
OR
• A bachelor's degree in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field AND one (1) year of experience in Data Visualization, and Statistical Models and Data Mining tools.
OR
• A master's degree or higher in Data or Computer Science, Informatics, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
To be appointed to Data Analyst 1 (SG-18), you must have:
• Six (6) years of professional experience in data visualization and statistical models and data mining tools
OR

Traineeship salary information:
The position may be filled at the Data Analyst Trainee 1 equated to SG-14 ($53,764), Data Analyst Trainee 2 equated to SG-16 ($59,994), or full performance Data Analyst 1 SG-18 ($66,951) based on the candidate's education, experience, and previous state service. Salary is nonnegotiable.
Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Data Analyst 1 SG-18 following successful completion of the traineeship.
