Location:

New York, NY

Conde Nast is looking for an AV Production and Livestream Engineer to join the Meeting & Events Technology (M&ET) team based in New York.

The Meeting & Event Technology (M&ET) team works globally, based out of New York and London, overseeing event production and meeting space technology for Conde Nast's employees, clients and consumers.

M&ET does 3 things:

1. We are Conde Nast's internal provider for live and virtual event production

2. We are the global Zoom administrators

3. We are responsible for the design and implementation of meeting and event space hardware around the world

The AV Production and Livestream Engineer has a key role in delivering "the 3 things." We are seeking a skilled and dynamic individual to join our team as the "Lead Technical Expert" for live streaming design and production. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in event technology, AV systems, and collaborative solutions. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless technical operations, delivering high-quality experiences for clients, and driving the technical execution of live event production, Zoom administration, and event space/conference room design. The ability to multitask is a must - to simultaneously manage projects in multiple cities, address break/fix escalations, and work on live event production. Most important, however, is the ability to work as part of a team. This position will work as part of a global team and will deliver results to multiple stakeholders. The candidate will report to the Director of M&ET, based in New York City.

Responsibilities:

1. Live Event Production

  • Shape the functionality and scale of our live broadcasts and post-production environments.

  • Be responsible for all technical aspects of a livestream broadcast, including, but not limited to, network construction (acquisition, capacity, routing), encoder validation (transport stream validation, bitrate), test broadcasts, and contingency/redundancy planning.

  • Configure and maintain NDI, HDMI and SDI video sources and distribution infrastructure and other production systems and equipment. Design and implement on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-based production systems for Livestream studios in NYC and London.

  • Partner with Video Product and Network teams to deploy and maintain a Video-over-IP and NDI infrastructure.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues during live events, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless delivery.

2. Zoom Administration

  • Serve as part of a Level-3 escalation team for Zoom platform administration, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Manage Zoom accounts, webinars, meetings, integrations, and security settings.

  • Provide technical support for internal and external stakeholders during virtual events or meetings.

  • Conduct training and workshops for users to maximize the functionality of Zoom.

3. Event Space/Conference Room Design

  • Take ownership of our current global Zoom Room design templates.

  • Adapt and implement optimal technical solutions for event spaces and conference rooms, including AV equipment, microphones, cameras, and display systems.

  • Assess and recommend technical upgrades or improvements to existing spaces to enhance overall functionality.

  • Be responsible for innovation and future-proofing of M&ET's inventory and capabilities.

The description of the tasks listed above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all qualifications, responsibilities, duties, and skills required.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in some aspect of the AV industry that includes live events and streaming

  • Engineer-level knowledge of networking including Video-over-IP, NDI and Dante

  • Expert knowledge of industry manufacturers, products and vendors

  • vMix experience is a must

  • Deliver effective presentations to internal and external partners when asked.

  • Adapt to changing requirements by re-prioritizing, problem-solving and changing course as needed, and assisting the rest of the team in making any needed modifications.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a Zoom administrator would be an enormous asset

  • Experience with live event production would be an advantage.

  • Familiarity with GSuite a plus.

  • Salary Range: $130,000-$155,000
