Job description


The Material Handler (2nd shift) is responsible for supporting outbound shipping activities by accurately picking, staging, verifying, and preparing finished goods for shipment. Responsibilities include scanning products in and out, confirming shipment accuracy, handling materials safely, and supporting overall operational and safety requirements on the warehouse floor. This role may perform work manually or using material handling equipment (MHE), depending on business need, training, and work assignment. The Material Handler may also prepare, handle, and process dangerous goods shipments in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
JOB DUTIES:
• Pick, stage, scan, verify, and prepare outbound shipments in accordance with shipping schedules and work instructions.
• Audit outbound and inbound shipments to ensure product accuracy in quantity, condition, identification, labeling, and documentation.
• Visually inspect and, when necessary, physically move product from one pallet, carton, or container to another to confirm accuracy and support shipment readiness.
• Operate within established shipping processes to ensure timely and accurate movement of product through the department.
• Use RF scanners, computers, shipping systems, and related tools to complete transactions and maintain inventory accuracy.
• May operate material handling equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, or other warehouse equipment, as trained and authorized.
• Perform material handling tasks manually when MHE is not required, not available, or not permitted for the assignment.
• Prepare shipments to meet customer, carrier, and internal packaging standards.
• Handle, prepare, label, and process dangerous goods shipments in compliance with company procedures, carrier requirements, and applicable regulations.
• Identify, report, and help resolve discrepancies, damages, nonconformities, or shipment issues to the Shipping Supervisor or designated leadership.
• Ensure all LDC work instructions, operational standards, quality requirements, and safety rules are always followed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and inspection-ready work area in compliance with housekeeping and safety expectations.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to support workflow efficiency and service performance.
• Support overtime, shift changes, and schedule adjustments as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties assigned in support of shipping and warehouse operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the workday.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, twist, push, pull, and move continuously for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to manually handle products, cartons, pallets, and packaging materials safely and efficiently.
• Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment when trained and authorized.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced warehouse environment may include exposure to varying temperatures, noise, moving equipment, and frequent material movement.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all safety requirements related to general warehouse work and dangerous goods handling.
PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Steel Toe, Safety Vest, Harnesses, and Lanyards
YOU MUST HAVE:
• 1+ years of experience in shipping, warehouse operations, logistics, inventory control, or material handling preferred.
• 1+ years of experience operating MHE is beneficial but not required unless assigned to equipment-based tasks.
• Experience with RF scanning, warehouse management systems, or shipping systems is preferred.
• Experience handling, packaging, labeling, or processing dangerous goods is preferred.

• Ability to operate stand up MHE, including but not limited to reach trucks, dock stockers, and order pickers.
