Work Schedule: Afterschool 4pm to 9pm and some weekends
Job Description:
SUMMARY
Providesinstruction in the foundation of dance, including posture, choreography,rhythm, technical competency and interpretation.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
  • Develop and present curriculum that provides students with an experience in the art form that is age appropriate and challenges students to achieve at the highest level
  • Work with students from diverse backgrounds to educate and improve skills
  • Assess student's progress by grading assignments
  • Organize and present a culminating event that represents the quality of work undertaken over the course of the semester
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and/or modify curriculum as needed to meet changing industry trends and college initiatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
  • Degree in dance and/or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of effective strategies for integrating students with varying stages of dance development
  • Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Ability to determine needs of students and identify solutions
  • Ability to be creative and exercise initiative
  • Possess working knowledge of fundamental dance concepts practices and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Possess basic-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software

  • Demonstrated experience requiring diverse problem-solving methods in a variety of situations
