Estimator

Since 1946, Lehman Daman has been a trusted commercial general contractor and construction manager serving Central Ohio and surrounding states. The Estimator supports Lehman Damans efforts to win work by providing estimates for schematic, design development, and permit level drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for estimating projects of varying size and complexity within the industrial, office, education, and healthcare sectors, with project values ranging from $10,000 to $20 million.
  • Develop accurate budgets throughout all design phases, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Prepare competitive hard bid estimates for plan and specification projects.
  • Assist the Service Department with estimating smaller projects, including development of detailed line-item budgets.
  • Conduct value engineering analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project integrity.
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Present estimates and budgets to customers, including preparation and explanation of supporting documentation as needed.
  • Collaborate with designers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members to develop complete and accurate estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and vendors.
  • Skilled in developing scopes of work based on limited or preliminary project information.
  • Strong mathematical and written communication skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Growth mindset with a desire for personal development and contribution to company growth.
  • Strong proficiency with computer systems and standard business software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to clearly convey estimates and recommendations.
  • Bachelors degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but nor required.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of construction estimating experience.
