What will the work look like for me?
As a student working in Personnel, you'll embark on a dynamic learning journey, gaining hands-on experience and valuable insights into various aspects of the business world. This role is designed for college students eager to launch their careers, offering exposure to multiple teams across Daktronics while fostering professional growth and development. Our goal is to prepare you for future full-time opportunities, and we proudly encourage you to apply for open positions upon graduation.
You'll be part of a team who will encourage you to think critically, take initiative, and develop a strong foundation in Personnel Operations. Through hands-on experiences, you'll gain exposure to a variety of Personnel functions, including recruiting, onboarding, employee records management, compliance, HR systems, reporting, employee engagement, and process improvement. Experiences will vary based on your interests, strengths, and business needs, providing opportunities to learn how Personnel supports employees and leaders throughout the employee lifecycle. This flexible and personalized approach allows you to build valuable professional skills while exploring multiple areas within the Personnel team.
Experiences include the following areas:
  • Support day-to-day administrative and operational processes across multiple business functions.
  • Assist with data entry, reporting, document management, and record maintenance.
  • Learn and utilize business systems, databases, and Microsoft Office tools to support operational needs.
  • Prepare reports and communications for internal stakeholders.
  • Assist with customer, employee, or internal team requests by researching information and providing timely support.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and complete work accurately and on schedule.
  • Gain exposure to areas such as project coordination, administration, operations support, process improvement, and business analytics.
  • Build an understanding of Daktronics products, practices, procedures, and business operations through hands-on experience and mentorship.

When will I work?
Applicants should be available to work approximately 15 hours per week (maximum of 20 hours per week) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
Where is this opportunity located?
While all responsibilities can be performed remotely, preference is given to candidates residing near our corporate headquarters in Brookings, South Dakota. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.
What are the pay and perks?
The typical hiring range for this position is $14.00 to $15.00 per hour based on the location of Brookings, SD. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experiences, location, and applicable local legislation.
Students with GPA of 3.5 and above may be eligible for a $500 Academic Excellence Reward for each spring and fall semester completed while employed. Additional conditions may apply.

Qualifications
To be considered for the Personnel Operations Student position, we require the following:
Academic Requirements:
  • The preferred applicant will be a student registered in at least 12 credits.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Business, Consumer Behavior, Economics, Entrepreneurial Studies, or a closely related field.
  • The preferred applicant will be in their sophomore or junior year of school.
  • Only strong academic performers will be considered and must maintain an acceptable GPA. Applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application.

Other Requirements:
  • Work Availability:
    • Approximately 15 hours per week during the academic year (maximum of 20 hours).
    • Up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
    • Reliable and capable of working independently while maintaining productivity in a remote environment.
    • Eager to learn and contribute to new projects, including the use of unfamiliar software and tools.
    • Adaptable to shifting priorities and evolving responsibilities.
    • Proficient in general computer use, including accurate keyboarding skills.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Eligibility:
    • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
