Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and dispatch drivers based on daily freight schedules, route efficiency, and customer requirements to ensure timely and accurate deliveries
  • Monitor and track fleet and contract carrier truck movements (TL, LTL, Common) to ensure accuracy and delivery of customer freight
  • You will communicate with Drivers to ensure on-time service is provided for all shipments, respond to activities of drivers via internet satellite, text, and phone, and initiate "check calls" with Drivers on all pickups and deliveries
  • Maintain timely updates in freight movement system by entering pick-up data, load information, and load closing
  • This role will provide detailed shift transition, take breakdown calls, communicate with Fleet Maintenance, or repair providers, and direct Drivers on options
  • Respond and troubleshoot pick-up and delivery challenges when they occur in transit, communicate with various warehouse contacts to ensure timely freight movement, and contact consignees and customers in response to potential transit delays
  • Perform various reporting duties in support of customer and Customer Service communication, work cooperatively with Customer Service and Dispatch teams to provide solutions for customers' needs and
  • Resolve issues, and enter and approve Driver payroll
  • Print Master Bill packets, check in freight, and scan/classify BOL's for the Cross Dock
  • You will be held accountable to comply with all defined business processes and the utilization of all technology platforms, as defined by Hyway

Requirements:

  • 1+ years' experience in transportation
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel
  • Ability to solve practical problems and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to use various software programs, including the ability to enter data at intermediate or high pace level
  • Proven experience making independent decisions and performing job functions without supervision
  • Excellent phone skills with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a "can do" attitude with a "will do" work ethic
  • Ability to listen effectively and interact effectively with all levels of an organization
  • Positively respond to change and adapt to new customers and business priorities
  • Resourceful, proactive, and accountable
