Job description

CMI Inc. is looking for a skilled individual to join our team as a VRV HVAC Technician.

The responsibilities of the Daikin VRV Technician handles complex heat pump and heat recovery systems, refrigerant piping networks, and digital control integration. This role requires independent field work, strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, and adherence to manufacturer specifications


Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Startup: Oversee site surveys, assist with equipment positioning, and perform initial commissioning or startup on new Daikin VRV/VRF outdoor and indoor units.
  • Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Conduct scheduled maintenance, clean coils, inspect condensate systems, and replace filters per manufacturer service intervals.
  • Diagnostics and Repair: Troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-circuit faults using specialized diagnostic tools and schematics.
  • Refrigerant Work: Install copper lines, execute precise brazing, check for system leaks, and manage refrigerant recovery.
  • System Integration: Interface with Building Management Systems (BMS) to interpret trend data, analyze error codes, and adjust control parameters.
  • Documentation: Complete thorough digital start-up reports, service logs, and client handover summaries.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience: 3 to 5 years of commercial HVAC field experience, with direct working knowledge of VRV/VRF technology.
  • Certifications: EPA Universal Technician Certification; valid driver's license with a clean record.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED; trade school certificate or degree in mechanical/refrigeration engineering preferred.
  • Specialized Training: Factory or manufacturer-recognized Daikin product training is a strong advantage.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, climb ladders, work in confined or high-temperature mechanical rooms, and wear mandatory PPE
