Navigating the formal business culture, understanding regional compliance requirements, and effectively communicating in German can be demanding for newcomers. To overcome these challenges, it's helpful to invest in cultural training, stay updated on legal requirements, and, if possible, improve German language proficiency. Collaborating closely with local colleagues and leveraging their expertise can also greatly facilitate smoother integration and success in the DACH market.

What does 'DACH region' mean in a business context?

The term 'DACH region' refers to the group of German-speaking countries in Europe: Germany (D), Austria (A), and Switzerland (CH). In a business context, this region is often treated as a single market due to shared language and cultural similarities, despite each country having its own legal and economic system. Companies often tailor their strategies specifically for the DACH region to address its unique market dynamics and consumer preferences.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Social DTC & Customer Activation Manager is responsible for driving consideration‑ and conversion‑focused performance across Customer and Social DTC activations for Consumer Beauty brands in the DACH region. The role combines strategic responsibility with strong hands‑on execution, ensuring that campaigns on key retail media platforms (particularly dm and Rossmann) as well as commercial initiatives within the TikTok Shop — including promotions and affiliate activations — are executed in a targeted manner, continuously optimized, and scaled in line with best practices.

  • Responsibility for the setup and ongoing development of two TikTok Shops — Manhattan (single‑brand) and Scenting (multibrand) — including product listings, commercial initiatives (bundles, discounts, GWPs), and overarching shop coordination
  • Development, management, and continuous enhancement of the TikTok Shop affiliate marketing strategy to drive sustainable revenue and GMV growth
  • Continuous performance monitoring and reporting for Retail Media and TikTok Shop to derive concrete optimization measures
  • Close collaboration with Retail Media partners, TikTok Shop and affiliate agencies, as well as internal expert teams such as Marketing, Media, and E‑Commerce
  • Ongoing monitoring of market and platform trends to identify innovation potential and performance levers
  • Development and implementation of best practices and playbooks to support scalability and operational efficiency
  • Planning, control, and monitoring of agency and project budgets in close alignment with the Senior Social Media & Content Manager
  • Preparation of results, insights, and actionable recommendations for business reviews, management updates, and selected stakeholder formats

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Strong understanding of the requirements and mechanics of e‑retailers, combined with high motivation to proactively drive new topics
  • Solid experience in performance marketing, with a particular focus on Retail Media (including paid retailer search) and paid social advertising (e.g. TikTok, Meta), as well as hands‑on experience with retargeting setups, co‑funded search and social activations, and DSP‑based video and display advertising (e.g. Google DV360, MediaMath, Amazon DSP)
  • Excellent expertise in building, developing, and interpreting reporting and KPI frameworks, as well as in managing and steering external agencies
  • Confident and proficient use of MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Practical experience with DAM and PIM systems as well as common shop systems (ideally Shopify)
  • Experience in affiliate marketing with scalable creator networks as well as familiarity with relevant influencer and creator tools (e.g. Traackr) is considered an advantage
  • Strong results‑ and performance‑oriented mindset, combined with a high willingness to learn and openness to innovation, AI tools, and new technologies
  • Structured and independent working style with a high degree of initiative and a hands‑on mentality
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with internal stakeholders and external partners
