To thrive as a DAANCE Certified professional, you need strong knowledge of dental anesthesia procedures, patient monitoring, and emergency protocols, along with the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) credential. Familiarity with monitoring equipment, sedation delivery systems, and electronic health records is crucial for this role. What is a DAANCE Certified?

A DAANCE Certified job typically refers to a position in an oral and maxillofacial surgery office where the employee has completed the Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE). This certification signifies specialized training in assisting with anesthesia administration and patient monitoring during surgery. DAANCE-certified professionals, often dental or surgical assistants, help ensure patient safety and support the surgical team. Many employers prefer or require this certification for assistants working in sedation or anesthesia-focused dental practices.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a DAANCE Certified assistant in an oral surgery practice?

DAANCE Certified assistants play a vital role by preparing and maintaining the surgical environment, monitoring patients under sedation, and assisting the oral surgeon throughout procedures. They are responsible for recording vital signs, ensuring proper equipment function, and supporting patients during pre-op and recovery phases. Additionally, they often educate patients about anesthesia processes and post-operative care, working closely with the surgical team to ensure safety and compliance with protocols. This position requires a high degree of vigilance and collaboration, making it a rewarding choice for those interested in both patient care and surgical procedures.
