Diesel Mechanic

Description
About the Position
We are seeking an exceptional Diesel Truck Chassis Master Mechanic to lead our service team. This senior-level position requires extensive expertise in all aspects of heavy-duty diesel truck repair, diagnostics, and the ability to mentor junior technicians.
Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair complex diesel engine problems including electronic fuel systems, turbochargers, and emissions controls
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on transmissions, differentials, and drivetrain components
  • Troubleshoot and repair sophisticated electrical systems and multiplexed networks
  • Execute complex brake system repairs including ABS, air disc brakes, and electronic stability control
  • Repair and rebuild suspension systems, steering components, and air ride systems
  • Lead diagnostic efforts on difficult or unusual repair scenarios
  • Mentor and train junior mechanics and apprentices
  • Perform comprehensive DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Review and approve work performed by other technicians
  • Maintain manufacturer certifications and stay current with evolving technologies
  • Provide technical support and guidance to service advisors
  • Estimate repair costs and timeframes for complex jobs

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic
  • Multiple ASE Master Technician certifications (T-series required)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all major truck brands and systems
  • Expert-level proficiency with diagnostic software and scan tools
  • Proven track record of complex problem-solving and troubleshooting
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, technical service bulletins, and schematics
  • Valid driver's license with clean record
  • Own comprehensive set of professional tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Master Heavy Duty Truck Technician certification
  • CDL Class A or B license
  • Manufacturer-specific certifications (Cummins, Detroit, Paccar, etc.)
  • Experience with alternative fuel systems (CNG, electric, hybrid)
  • Welding and fabrication capabilities
  • Previous shop foreman or lead technician experience
  • Technical school degree or equivalent
