Area Sales Manager - Marine

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Area Sales Manager - Marine to lead sales growth and market development for our marine product portfolio across an assigned North American territory. This highly visible role combines technical expertise, strategic sales leadership, and customer relationship management to drive revenue growth and strengthen our position within the marine market.

Position Summary
The Area Sales Manager - Marine is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies for Twin Disc marine products throughout an assigned North American territory. This role works directly with OEMs, distributors, shipyards, naval architects, vessel operators, and other key industry stakeholders to identify opportunities, grow market share, and achieve revenue and profitability objectives.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to customers while collaborating closely with internal teams including engineering, operations, product management, marketing, and sales leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Business Development
  • Develop and execute territory sales plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, customer engagement, industry networking, and trade events.
  • Drive sales growth for Twin Disc's complete marine product portfolio.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with engine OEMs, shipyards, naval architects, distributors, and end users.
Customer & Distributor Management
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and channel partners.
  • Conduct regular customer visits to understand business needs and identify growth opportunities.
  • Support distributors with technical sales training, product application guidance, and customer presentations.
  • Lead negotiations and successfully close significant sales opportunities.
Market Analysis & Product Strategy
  • Monitor market trends, competitive activity, and emerging technologies.
  • Gather customer feedback and market intelligence to support new product development and product planning.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities across Twin Disc's broader product offerings.
Forecasting & Performance Management
  • Analyze sales performance, market conditions, and competitive trends.
  • Prepare and manage annual sales budgets.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts and actively participate in the monthly SIOP (Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning) process.
  • Track key performance indicators and implement actions to achieve territory objectives.
Reporting & Collaboration
  • Prepare monthly management reports detailing sales performance, forecasts, pipeline activity, competitive insights, risks, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing on promotional materials, advertising campaigns, and trade show activities.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and product management teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical sales, product application engineering, sales management, or marketing.
  • Proven success selling technical products through OEM and distribution channels.
  • Experience developing and implementing sales strategies that drive measurable business growth.
Technical Skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and apply complex product solutions.
  • Knowledge of marine propulsion, power transmission, driveline, or related marine systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience using CRM systems; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards (JDE) and QlikView is a plus.
