Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Leadership duties: Controls, directs, and participates in the activities of the organization through a hierarchy of managers and supervisors. Responsibilities also include long-term strategic planning, determining the policies of the organization, and allocating its resources and making decisions regarding organization growth and diversification to accomplish entity's vision. A management role that supervises employees focusing on tactical, operational activities within a specified area, with the majority of time spent overseeing area of responsibility, planning, prioritizing and/or directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. A role that supervises all levels of employees. Responsibilities that typically include: Setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results, problems faced may be difficult but typically are not complex, and ensures policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.

The Clinical Manager oversees the daily clinical and administrative operations of designated unit(s). The Clinical Manager prepares staff schedules, requests, and allocates resources and ensures that patient care is aligned with the goals, mission, and vision of Tufts Medicine.
Unit Summary:
D3 is a 30 bed surgical unit caring for both medical-surgical and intermediate level of care patients We care for adult, acute care patients, with a wide variety of diagnosis and co-morbidities, providing comprehensive care according to the scope of care defined by the organization and Massachusetts state regulations.
D3 is also the primary surgical floor, except for orthopedics. Our surgical patients include: Bariatrics, General, Gyn, Urology, Plastics, Vascular, etc. Our medical patients include: stroke, renal, pneumonia, alcohol withdrawal, drug withdrawal, cellulitis, etc.
Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Massachusetts RN Licensure.
2. 5 Years of RN Experience with at least 1 year as a charge/lead RN.
3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
4. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Uses knowledge and expertise to identify potential problems and/or resources for patients and families.
2. In collaboration with the director, ensures all staff maintains competency-based practice based upon patient population.
3. Participates in nursing research.
4. Identifies avenues to pursue own professional growth.
5. Keeps current on regulatory issues and trends and employs strategies to meet standards in a proactive manner.
6. Supervises staff by evaluating work performance, providing guidance, and timely feedback based on outcome measures.
7. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds to address, patient/family needs, and discharge planning.
8. Recognizes, responds, and provides follow-up on issues, concerns, and suggestions on behalf of the patient population and staff.
9. Allocates resources and coordinates services to optimize patient care and services.
10. Develops and monitors operating and capital budget; implements strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
11. Performs performance reviews with staff.
12. Participates in staff interview process, provides direction and discipline to staff as appropriate, and orients new staff to facility.
13. Creates and fosters a learning environment that facilities the professional growth and development of staff.
14. Develops and implements processes to enhance operations and practices for ongoing quality improvement.
15. Develops, implements, and monitors written policies and procedures.
16. Leads and/or participates in hospital, departmental and multidisciplinary teams, committees, councils and special projects.
17. Plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care in accordance with standards of practice.
Physical Requirements:
1. Occasional lifting of 30-35 lbs and turning patients.
2. Prolonged standing and walking.
3. Occasional twisting, bending, reaching, pushing/pulling, sitting, kneeling, and squatting.
4. Exposure to infectious disease and possible carcinogenic chemicals.
5. Exposure of blood-borne pathogens.
6. Requires fine manual dexterity to lift and maneuver patients.
7. Requires visual and aural acuity necessary to monitor patient care.
