Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency
is seeking an experienced Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician to join our growing specialty hospital in Marietta, Georgia.

This is not an entry-level position. We are seeking experienced veterinary professionals who are confident managing critically ill patients and are ready to practice at the highest level of Emergency and Critical Care medicine.

As an Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician, you'll play an essential role in stabilizing patients, supporting specialty procedures, and delivering exceptional nursing care.
Emergency and Critical Care Nursing
  • Triage and stabilize emergency patients
  • Monitor critically ill and hospitalized ICU patients
  • Recognize and respond to shock, trauma, respiratory distress, sepsis, cardiac emergencies, GDV, and other life-threatening conditions
  • Assist with RECOVER CPR and advanced life-saving procedures
  • Calculate and administer CRIs, fluid therapy, blood products, and emergency medications
Anesthesia and Surgical Support
  • Assist with emergency and specialty surgical procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia using ECG, capnography, pulse oximetry, Doppler, invasive blood pressure monitoring, and advanced anesthetic equipment
  • Support perioperative pain management and post-operative recovery
  • Monitor patients throughout anesthesia and recovery to ensure the highest level of patient safety
Advanced Diagnostics
  • Perform in-house laboratory diagnostics including CBC, chemistry, coagulation testing, blood gases, urinalysis, and cytology
  • Assist with digital radiography, ultrasound, and additional diagnostic procedures
  • Monitor oxygen-dependent patients, transfusions, and continuous ICU therapies
  • Maintain detailed and accurate electronic medical records
Collaboration and Client Care
  • Partner closely with emergency veterinarians, boarded specialists, and fellow technicians
  • Communicate professionally with clients during emotionally challenging situations
  • Contribute to efficient patient flow while maintaining exceptional standards of nursing care
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of Emergency, Intensive Care Unit, or Specialty Veterinary Medicine experience
  • Strong emergency triage and critical patient assessment skills
  • Advanced proficiency with drug calculations, CRIs, anesthesia, and emergency nursing
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and decisive during high-acuity cases
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for Emergency and Critical Care medicine
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed, Registered, or Certified Veterinary Technician
  • RECOVER CPR certification
  • Advanced anesthesia experience
  • Specialty or Emergency Continuing Education
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist aspirations encouraged
