ROLE of the POSITION
The Nevada Institute of Cybersecurity (NIC) at UNLV invites applications for a temporary, fixed-term, Program Director. This position is renewable for up to 1.5 years (2.5 years total), contingent upon available funding.
The Program Director provides senior-level oversight of the operational, administrative, and financial functions of NIC, supporting institute leadership in executing complex, grant-funded initiatives. This role is responsible for fiscal management, compliance, and coordination across multiple programs, ensuring alignment with university and sponsor requirements.
Key responsibilities include managing budgets and reporting for externally funded activities, overseeing operational execution of student-focused initiatives, and maintaining performance metrics for institutional and sponsor reporting. The Director leads planning and execution of high-impact events and external engagements, and coordinates communications and outreach in collaboration with campus partners.
The position requires independent judgment, cross-functional coordination, and supervision of staff and student personnel to ensure efficient and compliant operations across the institute.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or CHEA and a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, operations, or program management within a higher education or research environment. Demonstrated expertise in budget oversight, compliance, and managing complex, grant-funded activities is required along with strong knowledge of current affairs and issues in cybersecurity and AI security research, education, and technology policy is required. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
