JOB TITLE: Cyber Security Manager


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Lead the organization’s cybersecurity program, including building and operating the Security Operations Center (SOC), managing vulnerability and incident response programs, and directing the deployment of security tools and training that protect company systems, data, and team members.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

Essential


  • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization’s overall cybersecurity strategy, policies, and procedures.
  • Design, build, and manage the Security Operations Center (SOC).
  • Develop and maintain security alerts, response playbooks, and automated incident response actions.
  • Lead the vulnerability management program, including scanning, risk analysis, remediation tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct or oversee penetration testing and security assessments to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Lead incident response and forensic investigations for suspected breaches, ransomware, and other security events.
  • Evaluate, deploy, and manage security solutions, including email security, multi-factor authentication, endpoint detection and response, and security awareness platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable security and regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-171); build custom reporting and documentation to support audits.
  • Develop and deliver ongoing security awareness training and education for employees.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop IT security staff; set, measure, and report on team goals and performance.
  • Partner with department leaders and vendors and customers to align security initiatives with business objectives.
  • Represent the organization as a subject matter expert at industry conferences, training events, and community outreach; some travel may be required.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; equivalent experience and certifications considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 7+ years of progressive IT security experience, including hands-on experience building and operating a Security Operations Center (SOC)
  • Prior experience leading or managing IT or security staff.
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, CySA+, PenTest+, CCNA, or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk), EDR tools, MFA, and email security solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience with penetration testing, vulnerability management, and incident response/forensics.
  • Working knowledge of NIST and other relevant compliance and security frameworks.
  • Experience supporting or pursuing compliance with AS9100D, DFARS, ITAR, and/or CMMC a strong plus.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience developing and delivering security awareness training.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead cross-functional security initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
