Digital Envoy (DE) is the leader in geolocation and VPN data for over 25 years for customers in various verticals — Streaming Media, Ad Tech, Cybersecurity, E-commerce, and Data Analytics. Our core product, IP address geolocation, powers customers like Netflix, Hulu, Trade Desk, PayPal, AWS, Apple, and many others. Our VPN and Proxy data, coupled with accurate IP address geolocation, helps companies determine malicious activity for threat intelligence, authentication, and digital privacy.


We are looking for a Sr. Software Engineer (Cybersecurity) to help advance our VPN Proxy product and cybersecurity research initiatives. This role combines software engineering, reverse engineering, ethical hacking, malware analysis, and threat research. The ideal candidate is a strong developer who enjoys building software as much as analyzing software.


This person can work remotely from any of the following states: California (CA), Colorado (CO), Connecticut (CT), Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Kentucky (KY), Massachusetts (MA), Michigan (MI), New York (NY), New Jersey (NJ), North Carolina (NC), Pennsylvania (PA), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN), Texas (TX), Virginia (VA), Washington (WA).


Georgia residents are encouraged and welcomed to join us a couple days/week in our Peachtree Corners, Georgia office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Develop object-oriented applications, services, and tooling used for reverse engineering, threat intelligence, and security investigations.
  • Develop and maintain production-quality software using object-oriented design principles and modern software engineering practices.
  • Build custom analysis tools, automation frameworks, and research platforms to support malware analysis, reverse engineering, and threat detection
  • Analyze compiled code, binaries, and obfuscated software using static and dynamic analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers to transform cybersecurity research into scalable software solutions and operational capabilities.
  • Participate in software architecture, code reviews, testing, and development standards to ensure maintainable and secure codebases.
  • Identify trends with current/emerging threats as they relate to the use of information technology and policies. Research credible new intelligence and subject matter resources to combat them
  • Utilize and enhance existing REST APIs and implement new REST APIs using best practices for a scalable user interface
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support various operations
  • Leverage AI-assisted research, development, and automation tools to accelerate malware analysis, threat detection, reverse engineering, secure coding practices, and operational efficiency across cybersecurity initiatives.

Requirements:

WHO YOU ARE:

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience with strong object-oriented programming skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Python and at least one additional language such as C++, Java, C#, Go, or Rust.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills across multiple programming languages.
  • Advanced proficiency of Linux, security engineering, computer and network security, IP protocols
  • Experience with noSQL databases
  • Experience performing static and dynamic analysis of software, binaries, mobile applications, and malware, including Smali and APK

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with reverse engineering and software analysis tools such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, Hopper, Radare2, Binary Ninja, Frida, Burp Suite, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with AWS and SQL is a plus
  • Familiarity with applying AI/ML-assisted tools and automation techniques to cybersecurity research, malware analysis, secure coding, and threat intelligence workflows
  • Experience with security related data analysis
  • Strong proficiency with static and dynamic analysis of malicious binaries
