Job description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Cybersecurity Software Engineer to join our team in Linthicum Heights, MD.

This role protects secure systems by providing expert engineering support for the Cryptographic Solutions Program and MPO's network security products.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide advanced engineering, cybersecurity analysis, and cryptographic solutions to enhance the security posture, testing, and certification of products deployed across the the Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Drive innovation in data protection, high-assurance encryption, and secure computing architecture to safeguard modern national security infrastructure.
  • Perform software design and functional programming while authoring robust unit, integration, and system-level test suites.
  • Develop software using multi-paradigm programming languages, functional design principles, and standard data-interchange and markup formats.
  • Build and maintain applications across cross-platform desktop and server environments using modern IDEs, containerization, deployment pipelines, and network tools.
  • Apply deep domain knowledge of low-level network protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model) and cryptographic principles (e.g., PKI, symmetric/asymmetric encryption, hashing) to software development tasks.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs/contracts of similar scope, type, and technical complexity.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with low-level programming languages (C, C++, Rust).
  • Proficient in rapid prototyping and scripting with Python or Java.
  • Familiarity with penetration testing tools and security-focused OSs (e.g., Kali Linux).
  • Experience with high-grade network encryptors and cryptographic key distribution systems.
  • Background supporting Intelligence Community (IC) or DoD cryptographic engineering initiatives.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
