Cybersecurity Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Salary: $125,000 - $135,000 Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer to join a collaborative security operations team responsible for protecting enterprise systems, investigating threats, and continuously improving security monitoring capabilities. This role combines hands-on security operations, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and security platform administration.

The ideal candidate is a proactive security professional who enjoys threat hunting, analyzing alerts, improving security tooling, and working across technical and non-technical teams to strengthen an organization's security posture.

Key Responsibilities Security Monitoring & Incident Response
  • Investigate and triage security alerts, indicators of compromise (IOCs), phishing reports, and suspicious activity.
  • Perform threat hunting activities to identify potential security risks and malicious behavior.
  • Respond to security incidents and assist with containment, remediation, and post-incident analysis.
  • Review and analyze security events to identify trends, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
Security Platform Administration
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize security technologies including:
    • Microsoft Defender
    • Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM)
    • Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR/XDR) platforms
    • Vulnerability management tools
    • Email security solutions
    • Firewall and network security technologies
  • Configure security monitoring rules, alerts, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Onboard and integrate new data sources into security monitoring platforms.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to security controls and system configurations.
Vulnerability Management & Security Operations
  • Manage vulnerability scanning and remediation processes.
  • Assess security findings and work with technology teams to address identified risks.
  • Recommend hardening and configuration improvements for systems, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Stay current on emerging threats, attack techniques, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
Documentation & Compliance Support
  • Create and maintain security documentation, procedures, and technical reports.
  • Support compliance and audit initiatives by providing security evidence and reporting.
  • Assist with security assessments and reviews conducted by internal or third-party stakeholders.
Team Collaboration
  • Serve as a backup and cross-functional resource within the security team.
  • Partner with IT, infrastructure, cloud, and support teams on security-related initiatives.
  • Communicate security concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Participate in user security awareness initiatives, including phishing simulation exercises and education efforts.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in information security, cybersecurity operations, security engineering, or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring and incident response.
  • Experience administering SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, and security detection tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Experience with security alert triage, threat hunting, and incident investigation.
  • Understanding of networking concepts, operating systems, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments such as financial services, legal, healthcare, or similar industries.
  • Linux administration or security experience.
  • Experience with Azure cloud security technologies.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards such as:
    • ISO 27001
