Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support a company focused on mission-critical government operations with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity, compliance, and network reliability. This position is on-site in San Antonio, TX. The Linux System Administrator will own the full lifecycle management of Linux systems while supporting auditing, monitoring, and troubleshooting in a high-security environment. This is a mission-driven opportunity to play a key role in maintaining systems aligned with enterprise-level visibility. Responsibilities for the Linux System Administrator include: * Manage and maintain RHEL-based Linux systems, ensuring performance, security, and compliance with NSA auditing and logging requirements
* Administer and support OpenNMS Meridian for monitoring, including setup of distributed monitoring, thresholds, and alarms
* Perform advanced troubleshooting across Linux, network, and Windows environments in collaboration with Tier 1-3 teams
* Implement and manage logging, auditing, and automation using tools such as Splunk
* Support system lifecycle management including patching, configuration, documentation, and ATO accreditation processes
Required Qualifications for the Linux System Administrator include: * 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration within secure or enterprise environments
* Strong experience with RHEL, systemd, package management, kernel tuning, firewall tools (firewalld/iptables), and OpenNMS
* Proficiency in CLI-based troubleshooting, networking fundamentals, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, and basic scripting (Bash/Python)
* Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* Active Secret clearance and CompTIA Security+ certification required
Compensation for the Linux System Administrator include: * Salary Range: depending on experience
